horizon
(1999)

under gravity, a body of liquid always seeks to exist under a flat surface.  horizonsone thing always needs another thing as a reference guide if either thing is to be understood.  the two dimensionality of the painting surface and the dual aspect of sky vs. sea in the horizon paintings echo the phantasms of dichotomy and comparison.
